Evangeline S. Alexander was born September 11, 1935, to the union of Jasper and Rosie Smallwood. Her husband, Clyde Alexander, Jr.; her parents; twosisters: Millie Sutton, and Gloria Smallwood; six brothers: Calvin, Marvin, Jasper (Jack) Jasper Jr., and Nathaniel Smallwood; and five grand children: Ronald, Jr., Frank Jr., Maurice, Mario, and Ashley Wilson preceded her in death. Evangeline "Bangie" was welcomed into the arms of our Heavenly Father on June 7, 2011. A life long resident of Kansas City, KS, she received her education in the Kansas City, KS public school district. Furthering her education, she received her licensed practical nursing certification at Douglas Hospital. She subsequently practiced nursing at Bethany Medical Center, until retirement. Eveangeline dedicated her live to God at an early age, finding a church home at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Kansas City, KS. During her formative years she attended sunday school where she developed her understanding of Christian values. She also attended Western Bible College of Theology, while remaining a member of the usher board, until illness would no longer allow her to continue. In 1958, she married Paul Wilson, Sr. To this union, five children were born. Evangeline was a loving wife, caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. On April 16, 1975, she married the love of her life, Clyde Alexander, Jr. To this union, one daughter and five step children were blended as a family. She enjoyed fishing , playing card games, camping, traveling and always had a story to tell. Bangie was a "firecracker" who always spoke her mind (and everyone loved her for that). She was very active with her grandchildren, taking them to the familiy lake house during the summers. Her love for the Lord was evident in the ways she would pray for people and insist her grandchildren participate in bible study. Bangie leaves to cherish: five sons: William (adia) of Tacoma WA; Paul II (Colette); Ronald (Judy), Wilson, all of kansas City, MO; Frank Wilson and Michael Jackson of Kansas City, KS; three daughters: Cassandra Wilson of Independence,MO; Yvonne Jackson; and La Toya Alexander, both of Kansas City, KS; two stepsons; Clyde Alexander, III and Robert Alexander ; four stepdaughters; Willa Rucker, Jada Alexander, Mildred Sue alexander, Jerry McKay, one brother, Zenaphone Smallwood; one sister, Hannah Kirkwood; 32 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, and nephews and other relatives and friends.
