Services for Mr. Claude Lee Carson, Jr. will be held Saturday November 19, 2011 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, located at 4545 Benton Blvd., in Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be conducted from 9-11 with the Tribute Service beginning promptly at 11am. Claude Lee Carson, Jr. was born July 10, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri to Myrtle and Claude Carson, Sr. His brother Earl Thurston; maternal grandmother Bertha Smith; and paternal grandmother Mistera Johnson preceded him in death. Claude attended East High School and received his diploma in 1968. He was drafted to the Marine Corp on October 31, 1969 and achieved the rank of a Private E1. During his tour of duty he was awarded three medals: The National Defense Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Medal and the Medal of Good Conduct. After many years of serving his country, he received his honorable discharge. Claude was affectionately known to friends and family by his nickname "Cowboy". He leaves to cherish his beloved memory: his wife, Ruby Carson; his children: Rodney Carson; DeWayne Huges; and Dujuan Huges, of Clarksville, In; his loving parents: Myrtle and Claude Lee Carson, Sr.; two brothers, Maurice Thurston (Sandy); Steven Carson; two sisters: Barbara Tillman (James); and Margurite Jackson (Ronnie); six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
